Explore schedule scenarios in What If mode

You can explore different ways of generating schedules and obtaining statistical information using existing data by using What If mode.

Use What If mode to work with hypothetical employee and schedule information without altering the contents of your production database. What If mode creates an exact copy of the Workforce Management production database on a What If database. It synchronizes the content in one direction so that the Production Database does not get overwritten.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation bar, select Enter What If.

  2. At the command prompt to synchronize the What If database with your current database, do one of the following:

    • To load your current data into the What If database, select Yes.

The system makes an exact copy of your existing database. It overwrites any data that is currently in the What If database. The system displays a progress bar while it synchronizes the What If database with your data.

If you have never synchronized the What If database before, you must select Yes to synchronize it to enter What If mode.

    • To leave the What If database as is, select No.

The system does not update the What If database. It is the same as it was the last time a user exited from What If mode.

  3. While in What If mode, explore different schedule scenarios and calculate statistics based on these scenarios.

While you are in What If mode, the heading: In What If Mode is displayed in orange beside the logo in the navigation bar.

  4. To exit What If mode, from the navigation bar, select Exit What If.

You are switched back to your usual database. Your usual database is not updated with any data you modified while in What If mode.
