Create a shift assignment
You can manually add a shift Work period in WFM that has a definite length. assignment for a specific employee on the calendar.
Before you begin

Select campaign data for schedules or Select no campaign for schedules

To optimize the placement of shift events when adding a new shift assignment, from Tools, select Find best matched work rule. (By default, this option is disabled to improve performance while using the Calendar.) When this option is enabled, the system takes into account other employee schedules or other factors used in the schedule optimization process.
Procedure

Select the employee for whom you want to create a shift assignment.

From the details pane, select Add, and then select Shift.

From the Shift field, select the defined work rule for the shift.
When you select the work rule, the Activity, Start and End times, and Duration, are automatically populated with the values defined for the work rule (in the Work Administration module). To adhere to the work rule definition, do not edit these fields.

You can edit the following fields, while still adhering to the work rule:

Comment: Provides a free text field to add notes about the shift assignment.

Locked: Prevents the scheduling engine from moving the shift assignment when rescheduling.

Overtime: Indicates whether the entire shift is considered an overtime shift.

Extension before / Extension after: Adds an OT extension Overtime (OT) extension in WFM, which can be added before or after a shift to extend employee work time. before or after the shift.

To save your settings for the shift, select Save.
